Light that becomes part of architecture
Telekom Hamburg: Existing lighting efficiently converted to LED
On behalf of STRABAG Property and Facility Services, Alurays modernised interior and exterior lighting at the Deutsche Telekom location Überseering 2 in Hamburg. The aim was to replace conventional illuminants with powerful LED technology and to use existing luminaires and installation situations as much as possible.
The conversion included numerous areas of the building complex – including canteen and casino, kitchen, stairwells, security lighting as well as office and ancillary areas. Outside lighting, floor lights as well as luminaires at bicycle and smoking areas were also included in the modernization concept. For different existing luminaires, Alurays developed and delivered custom-fit LED inserts and assembly components. This enabled existing housings to be preserved in many cases and made technically future-proof. At the same time, energy requirements, maintenance and material usage were sustainably reduced and operational reliability improved in the long term.
The result combines a uniform, pleasant light quality with efficient LED technology and a resource-efficient handling of the inventory. The project shows how individually developed retrofit solutions modernize sophisticated building lighting without completely replacing proven architecture and installations.
