Light that becomes part of architecture
Mahlebitz – light for Munich precision coffee
At Nymphenburger Straße 51, Mahlefitz combined coffee roasting, café and sale to create an exceptional place for sophisticated coffee culture. The former drugstore market was transformed into an open, minimalist-style roasting shop, in which wood, leather, steel and exposed concrete create a warm, yet industrial atmosphere. Through a glass partition, guests experience directly how the beans are processed. alurays developed, delivered and mounted the complete outdoor and shop lighting. A watertight, rotating LED light line captures the large-scale glass façade and makes the reset entrance area widely visible even in the evening. Individually crafted, backlit wall lights made of browned steel set the name Mahlefitz with warm white light prominently in the scene. In the interior, the lighting supports the clear architecture, accentuates counters and sales areas and creates a pleasant connection between café and roasting shop. Thus, the lighting concept translates the precision of coffee roasting into an equally characteristic visual identity.
