Project report
Light that becomes part of architecture
In 2016, a private villa in Switzerland, together with the Portuguese lighting planning partner LDPLAN, developed a tailor-made lighting solution that combines architecture and exterior space. Flushly integrated linear lighting lines accompany paths, steps and structural contours, create orientation and give the property an elegant atmosphere after dark. Alurays provided completely cast-out LED profiles in protection class IP67. The robust construction reliably protects the technology against moisture, dust and changing weather conditions and at the same time enables a homogeneous light effect without disturbing light points. Through the flush-mounted installation, the profiles consistently subordinate to the architecture: during the day they remain almost invisible, in the evening they draw clear lines and specifically highlight materials as well as spatial transitions. The result is a durable, technically demanding special solution that combines functional safety with high-quality lighting design. The project shows how precisely manufactured LED technology naturally presents sophisticated details in outdoor areas, discreetly and effectively staged and gives the private environment a distinctive identity.
