Light that becomes part of architecture
At Kurfürstendamm 11, the entrance to the house of the Berlin Upper West marks a precisely staged transition between pulsating urban space and representative interior. Kardorff engineers from Berlin developed a clear, architecture-integrated concept for the lighting design. An almost ten-metre-wide U-shaped light portal captures the entrance and creates orientation from a distance. Alurays provided flush-fitted, completely recessed linear LED profiles in protection class IP67 for this purpose. The robust special solution combines lasting weather resistance with a homogeneous, calm light effect. Due to the flush integration, the construction remains visually restrained; above all, the precise light image that emphasizes the geometry of the portal becomes visible. Thus, the prominent Berlin address receives an unmistakable reception: elegant, functional and technically consistent down to the detail. Light is not placed here, but a self-evident part of the architecture and its urban identity during the day and night.
