Project report
Light that becomes part of architecture
With the façade lighting of The Gate Mall in Doha, alurays created a widely visible light staging for one of Qatar's exclusive shopping addresses. MZ Architects' distinctive architecture connects the shopping centre with the adjacent skyscrapers to form a characteristic ensemble in the West Bay district.
For large-scale outdoor lighting, alurays developed a project-specific, dynamically controllable RGB solution. Around 3,500 meters of linear LED lighting were precisely integrated into the façade structure of the four towers. Additional light points emphasize the intersections of the geometric façade grid and give the building ensemble a distinctive long-distance effect after dark.
The lighting design as well as the technical development took over alurays. The scope of services also included the production and delivery of the luminaires, the installation on site as well as the programming of the dynamic lighting scenes. The project's client was Salam Stores. The result combines architecture and light into a lively appearance, which can be staged again and again through different colours and moods.
