Light that becomes part of architecture
The installation, developed by the Center for Information Technology and Architecture, combined knitted textiles with actively curved fiberglass rods. The tension and pressure created a floating balance that stretched through the pavilion as a changeable landscape. Professor Martin Tamke of the Royal Danish Academy of Arts in Copenhagen was one of the researchers. Alurays developed and delivered the curved, suspended linear LED profiles for lighting staging. Precisely integrated into the textile supporting structure, they trace their spatial movement and made the complex geometry atmospherically tangible. The light complemented the filigree construction without affecting its lightness, and supported orientation and depth. In this way, Isoropia demonstrated how digital planning, innovative manufacturing and interdisciplinary cooperation enable new architectural spaces – resource-conscious, experimental and poetic clarity. The installation translated technical research into a sensually experience for visitors from all over the world.
